AGAPE'S HEALING

Healing Touch is a heart-centered, gentle, and non-invasive therapy that promotes relaxation and healing through light touch. I use different techniques to sense and restore balance to the energy that surrounds and permeates your body. Sessions are conducted via video conferencing one-on-one.

While it is called 'healing touch', it's more accurate to call it energy therapy. Energy travels across far distances, so we don't have to be near each other for you to experience the benefits of energy therapy.

My training is through Healing Beyond Borders. This organization has formulated the techniques from their nursing backgrounds. While some of the positions look similar to other modalities that do conflict with some Christian traditions, the approach developed by HBB is more research based. Some aspects were given a 'bad name' back in the 1980's-90's when many Christian organizations classified anything labeled "New Age" as evil. Being a spiritual director means that I take extra care to ensure that the techniques I use are spiritually safe.

Specific techniques are not mentioned in the Bible, but the concept of healing by touching people is mentioned and discussed throughout both the Hebrew and Christian texts of the Bible.

Many people feel a deep sense of relaxation, calm, and peace during or soon after a session. Some people fall asleep. Others have felt temperature changes in their bodies. Some have sensed my hands on different parts of their body, even though we weren't even in the same room. Others have felt no change or difference at all. Still others have cried. No person is the same and you might even have different feelings during or after each session. Every body is unique and the moment in time we meet is special.

While Healing Touch does not specifically fall under the guidelines of HIPPA, I have worked in a hospital setting for over eight years. I do my best to abide by those policies and have tried to select third-party platforms that also abide by HIPPA. These are your sessions. One of the reasons I opted for making my business online is to make confidentiality easier to maintain. You could be from literally anywhere in the world, I have no way to reach anyone you know. I perform my business within the State of Nebraska. There are additional laws that govern what is considered privileged information. Healing Touch is not specifically addressed in state law, so it is unclear how it might be applied. Please review the Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions pages for additional information.

I will do healing touch on children IF the parent/guardian is present for the entire session. Such sessions will be conducted by video, if all parties agree. The price for children is the same as adults (select a shorter session for children). I will do healing touch on pets or plants as my time and schedule allow. Brief information will be gathered via text message before I do such sessions. Pet/Plant sessions will not be conducted over video due to the finicky nature of animals and plants.

Only if I have their permission do give healing touch. If they are intubated or otherwise unable to make decisions, their Health Care POA can make the request for them. I know some health systems say it's a HIPPA violation to do a video conference while in the hospital, if this is the case for you, we will figure something out. If you want healing touch during a specific time (ie: while they are in surgery), we will have to coordinate schedules, since I know sometimes things change quickly at the hospital. **NOTE: some hospitals are starting to offer healing touch as a free service to patients, you can always check with your hospital if you want someone local to assist you.

Spiritual Direction involves one-on-one sessions where you can explore your spiritual journey and gain insights for how to deepen your relationship with God. "Direction" (like touch) is a bit of a misnomer. It is better to think of it as companionship or a conversation in which a person consults with another more experienced spiritually about the ways in which God may be touching her or his life. If you are seeking a retreat experience (IE: Ignatian Spiritual Exercises), I will follow the guidelines and principles set out by Ignatius Loyola, so at times it could feel more 'directive'.

Counseling deals with coping mechanisms and making the necessary changes in life so that one can function on a daily basis. Whereas Spiritual Direction is more listening and helping you to understand your relationship with God better. It is possible that in the course of spiritual direction sessions, emotional injuries may come to the surface. I am not certified as a counselor, so I may refer you one should you need assistance beyond what I am qualified to provide.

I usually begin with a prayer, to create a space in which the session can happen. Then you tell me about where you see God in your life this week (month/year). I help you to delve deeper into areas where you are moving toward or away from God. You do most of the talking. I might ask clarifying questions, or ask questions to help you to talk about one topic at a time. Then we close with another prayer.

While the platform I've selected will allow the video to be recorded, I will not allow recordings to be made by either of us. (On Teams, an alert is posted that the video is being recorded.). The space of spiritual direction is a sacred one of deep trust and that is difficult to have if either party feels like the session will be shared with others. However, I learn a great deal by seeing your facial expressions and mannerisms during the conversations, so phone conversations feel very limiting to me.

It is standard that sessions are held one-on-one to maintain confidentiality. In extreme circumstances (ie: Death of a loved one), I will consider doing a session with a small group, as long as everyone on your end is in the same room. We can discuss it further should the need arise.

Most children are not intellectually or emotionally ready for the work that happens during spiritual direction. As a rule, I will not offer direction to anyone under 19 (age of majority in Nebraska).

Wonderful! Getting Baptized or Confirmed is an amazing step in your spiritual journey. I have a lot of training on the OCIA process in the Catholic Church. However sponsoring is different from spiritual direction. I would be honored to journey with you, help you to find answers to questions and explore your discernment more fully. Unfortunately, due to the online environment in which I work, I cannot be anyone's sponsor through Agape's Healing.

I am a Roman Catholic in Full Communion with the Church. The Catholic Church does not ordain women. As a result, I cannot perform most Sacraments. I would be happy to help connect you with a local parish so that you can receive the Sacraments you need.

I'm not connected to a specific church or organization while providing these services and this is my primary employment. I have set my prices at a balance between "not making money" and "ensuring basic necessities are met". You are paying me for my time commitment. If I am meeting with you, I cannot be working somewhere else. However, with respects to Spiritual Direction, financial burden should not be a block. If you have a financial burden, use the contact link at the bottom of the page to discuss if financial adjustments can be made.

Trusting people is hard in this day and age. However, think about everything else you pay for in advance (Amazon products, Ebay products, etc.) without knowing that it will be sent to you. In this case, you are paying for my time and expertise. When you pay in advance, you morally bind me to provide the service(s) you request and you agree to show up at the time you select.

Both Healing Touch and Spiritual Direction are services that are not dependent on immediate outcomes. You might feel like you get a lot out of one session and not very much out of another. Growth is like that. However, I have given you my time and expertise regardless how you feel about individual sessions. You are compensating me for those aspects.

Yes! I don't work "normal day hours". Since everything is conducted online, you can use any of the available times (they should convert to your local time). The only caveat is that I will only conduct sessions in English. If you need another language, then I recommend finding a different provider for these services. I can assist you with how to look for someone.
